I saw [personal profile] pendulumscale and [personal profile] miscellanium doing this meme and I wanted to give it a round as well. I choose fics i actually published on ao3, not stuff that lives in my gdocs xD

Rules: go through your last 5 posted fics and share the first and last line. No context.

1) Red ropes and honeyed words

First: “Now you lift your arms over here and then just let it hold your weight. Very well.”

Last: They still had until the toll, and she was going to squeeze every little drop of pleasure she could from her partners.

2) We can build a fire chapter 7

First: Bringing Frederick in the archive of the priory wasn’t difficult

Last: And Frederick left the archive, feeling his mind both heavy with guilt but also light because of Mauricius' decision, even if it was mostly out of selfishness.

3) Water Dove

First: The smoke was traveling like a thin line coming from the pipette up until the ceiling

Last: Hato blew some more smoke, grinning. “Demons.”

4) To belong and to be Owned

First: Doctor Carl Hill wasn’t particularly fond of youngsters, even if his career was to mentor and teach at the Miskatonic U.

Last: That was going to be a surprise the next time he wanted to savour Herbert’s flavour.

5) This time it's the rain

First: "Here you are again."

Last: And they both got back to work, feeling more linked to each other, and their sparks getting ready for the conjux.

Thinking again about Bright lights big city and how the MC lives the events of the movie as if he is about to be born. As if he is in the inside of an amniotic sac, with not much control on what is it going to be about himself but at the same time YOLOing and trying to cope with things because he misses pieces on what and why went wrong.

I am just thinking on how in the end, when finally the puzzle pieces falls together, he is free, he is out that dead womb.

I loved the parallel with the "coma baby".

This is a movie that will stay with me for a long time.

Miki’s exhaustive list of likes:

Content warning: My likes contains dark scenarios of various kinds, proceed with attention, some of the themes listed here could be triggering.

Umbrella CW for noncon, violence and abuse

Favorite themes:

I like characters with glasses. Glasses are very important. A character should never lose their glasses, and if they have them broken or unusable for some reason, they should be impaired, and not act as if they suddenly healed from whatever they had to their eyes.

Negative environments:

  • Desperation caused by external causes. Being in distress because of an accident, a sickness, or self-defense.

  • A character having to deal with somebody obsessed with them, and going through stalking, gaslighting, and even if people around them believe them, they can't do anything to save them.

  • Somebody enduring molestation in public places where they can’t draw attention to themselves.

  • Powerplay dynamics, where they have to humiliate themselves to survive or obtain basic human rights.

  • Humiliation as in being stripped of every right of being a human being to the point of being made to have sex with animals.

(Note on this: In the past this was also a theme of misgendering and conversion for a trans person, making them wear the wrongful gendered clothing, using the deadname, etc.but now I can’t stand this kind of humiliation anymore.)

(i can excuse the rape but i draw the line at transphobia)

  • A rich man in love with a prostitute, using their leverage and paying them to do literally anything.

  • Having to fight for the right of being alive, and seeing all of this being denied. (And the consecutive revenge).

  • Human sacrifices

  • Incest, but as in “you are the only person that know me and care about me and we are alone against the world”. (This can be Father/child, or brother/brother especially twins)

  • Pregnancy themes, where a character makes a bad choice with consequences, but they don’t have the time to process it because they have a miscarriage or decide to have an abortion.

  • Themes of imprisonment, being shut in a place where they are being abused but can't escape, might be a federal prison, a mental asylum or a basement and slowly losing the hope of ever being able to be free again.

  • Hanahaki disease: A character not knowing they are in love with somebody they are not even supposed to be in love with, starting to spit out flowers and absolutely refusing to acknowledge the feelings until risking their own life. (Modified version of hanahaki where you have to confess your feelings no matter if the other person reciprocates or not)

  • Themes of food as the enemy, cannibalism as last resource to survive, giving up part of your own body to allow somebody else to go on.

Gore themes:

  • Broken bones. Especially the fingers

  • Impalement in a non-vital section of the body,

  • Vivisection,

  • Unethical medical procedures,

  • impregnation via both “regular way”, or a syringe implanted in the uterus.

  • Waking up in a blood covered bed because of a miscarriage.

Favorite negative scenario ever:

A character became comatose because of head trauma, being kept in that state by drugs, and becoming the object of obsession of somebody and becoming their living doll.

Positive environments:

  • Lovestruck moments.

  • Weddings.

  • Being alone together.

  • Being reunited after they thought the other was going to die. (This of course applies to poliships as well)

  • Weight gain as healing

  • Found families

  • Waking up and seeing the other still in the bed next to them.

Favorite positive scenario ever:

Domesticity. Finally getting to a point where two characters are so used to each other they know every little detail just to make the other be happy and smiling.

The sunrays are coming into the kitchen and one of them is wearing the other’s pajama’s top. They yawn. And they have breakfast together.
